About Ladybird's Nursery

Find out more about us

Ladybirds is very spacious and as open-planned as possible to allow the children freedom to explore and interact.  We have ensured that that the building, its equipment, resources and layout meets the needs of all of the children and enables the highest possible learning opportunities within a supportive, comforting and safe environment. Downstairs we have both our baby room (children aged up to two years) and toddler room (chided aged 2-3 years), which are connected via a gated archway.  And upstairs hosts our Pre-School room.

Outside we have a decked outside area at the front of the building with space for ride-ons, building activities and sand play, allowing the little ones to stretch their legs and get some fresh air.  We also take advantage of a fantastic nature walk just minutes away, as well as regularly exploring the local area and community, taking advantage of the parks, fields, woods, and soft-play, as well as attending community events (particularly those linked to local schools).

What do we provide?

We provide a high quality childcare service, for children aged 0 – 5 years. Ladybird’s has a fun, friendly and happy atmosphere that ensures children feel welcome and valued as part of our group. Children are engaged and stimulated throughout their day, with a routine that suits their needs and supports their interests. The nursery contains a wide variety of toys and resources, which are rotated on a regular basis, and promote independence. As well as these ‘free-flow’ play opportunities, we also plan and provide focused experiences each day to supplement learning – both indoors and out. We are dedicated to the welfare and happiness of the children in our care, and ensure that children feel welcome and secure and most importantly enjoy each day at Ladybirds.

We take children over to the Pendragon sensory centre for a session each week – we book the centre privately for our sole use during these times. The centre provides many sensory experiences for the children and is a brilliant space in which the children can move around and explore.

The nursery follows the early years foundation stage. We are dedicated to the principles that underpin this curriculum, and through individual and specific observation, planning and assessment (as well as monthly themes) tailor our provision, activities and resources to your child’s needs, always striving to move their individual development forward across the seven areas of learning.

Whilst children are in our care we also provide all of their food, snacks and drinks including breakfast, lunch at 12:00 and dinner at 16:30. We are committed to providing a fresh, balanced and nutritious menu consisting of a variety of different foods suitable to children’s preferences and nutritional requirements. The on-site experienced cook (Heidi) prepares all of the food freshly each day and everything we provide is home cooked: from the scones to the full meals. Heidi also prepares all of the baby foods, making each meal suitable to the baby’s weaning stage.  We are able to adapt our menu’s and cater for any allergies and intolerances that your child may have.  Heidi is both trained and experienced in dealing with any dietary requirements. All of our meat is sourced locally, provided by Thompson’s Butchers and fruit and vegetables from local LB Quality Grocers.

We are proud to have achieved a 5 star food hygiene rating on all our inspections for more information about our visit please click the logo below.

What do we charge?

We are open Monday to Friday 07:45 – 18:00.

Early Years
For early years children (until children go to school), we charge £7.20 per hour – we do not have any ‘session’ times within our day and are happy to accommodate session times that suit each families needs.  Our charges are inclusive of all food and drink, nappies and wipes, as well as any outings and activities that may include your child. We invoice monthly in advance, due the last working day of each month.

We are also able to provide all or part of the 15 & 30 hours childcare per week for eligible working families, the 15 hours childcare for all children aged 3 & 4, and the 15 hours of childcare for 2 years whose families receive some additional forms of additional support. For more information, eligibility criteria and to find the right offer for you, please visit https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/. Any funded hours remain all inclusive and no additional charges are made to parents during these sessions.

We are also registered with the Government’s Tax-Free Childcare System (for every £8.00 you pay into the account, the Government will add an extra £2.00) saving parents up to £2000 per child, per year.

We close all bank holidays and inclusively from Christmas Eve to New Years day each year, however no charges are made for any of these dates. Full charges do still apply during any children’s holidays or absences, and during times of illness.

We are happy to provide term-time only places, with no charges or retainers made during school holidays.

We are a “Good” Nursery

We were last inspected in October 2022 by Ofsted and received a ‘Good’ judgement in all areas.

It was an extremely positive day and the inspector was very complimentary to both the nursery and the staff team, highlighting ‘…the warmth, enthusiasm and care.’ And how children ‘…feel emotionally secure and arrive happy and eager to play.’, as well as discussing many of the other positive attributes and hard work of the team here at Ladybirds.
